In June 2008 I was invited to give a Master Class Fly Casting Demonstration at the Moscow Fly Festival. The festival ground was located at a river und gave the participants not only the possibilitiy to learn and to test new products but also to compete(distance fly casting) as well as to do some night fly fishing for walleye or chub. The weather was great and helped to create a very positive mood among the visitors. Like many other festivals in Russia also this festival was an open air event. The participants were arriving with their cars and set up their tents. This gives such festival a very special flair and especially in the evenings when you sit together and listen to guitar sounds and songs and exchange about fly fishing the atmosphere is great and much better than if one was sitting in a sterile hotel. I met also friends from St. Petersburg there, so it was much more than just a local event. I would like to see festivals like this here in central Europe, too.
